When Allison and Bruce first reached out to us, they wanted to create and intimate but truly “wow factor” destination wedding in Scotland, bringing 30 of their closest friends and family over from the US to celebrate their nuptials in true Scottish style. In the driver’s seat with the planning was Allison’s wonderful Mother, Lisa, who worked with me closely throughout the process to put together the wedding of her daughter’s dreams.
After settling on Dundas Castle as their chosen venue, we worked to put together a three day programme of Scottish events and entertainment to thrill their guests, along with an elegant wedding celebration that their guests would remember forever.
On day one, the couple arrived by traditional Red Bus from Edinburgh city centre, and enjoyed a welcome afternoon tea in the castle’s delightful drawing room, followed by a traditional highland games on the lawns.
That evening, guests enjoyed a highland dancing lesson, with a welcome dinner and plenty of live entertainment. After dinner, we organised a traditional whisky tasting with groom’s cake and a wonderful film of Allison and Bruce growing up, put together lovingly by the Mother of the Groom.
On the wedding day, the ladies enjoyed a champagne breakfast before beginning hair and makeup, while the gentleman enjoyed archery on the lawns. After a light lunch, the wedding ceremony took place in Dundas Castle’s medieval castle turret, followed by a cocktail reception in the courtyard with entertainment by string quartet.
An elegant wedding breakfast followed, before guests enjoyed a highland dance display and an evening of dancing, all finished off with a stunning firework display.
That night the bride and groom enjoyed a stay in the Castle’s stunning boathouse lodge, before rejoining their guests (taken by traditional horse and carriage) at the castle for a farewell breakfast.
Planning this wedding with this wonderful family was an absolute delight, and we enjoyed every minute of it. With many thanks to the wonderful team of suppliers we worked with, as well as the fabulous Julie Tinton for sharing her beautiful images.
