Weddings by Sara Jane worked closely with Jill and Kevin to plan this elaborate, luxury destination wedding in the highlands. Jill’s Scottish heritage made the scenic country of Scotland an easy choice of location. The venue itself, named as one of the world’s top wedding venues by Harper’s Bazaar, is nestled in the highlands amidst beautiful grounds and stunning scenery and as it comes with ample accommodation it was the ideal location to host a three day celebration.
As with any destination wedding, the planning was not only about the wedding day itself, but about creating an itinerary of entertainment and activities for guests to enjoy their once-in-a-lifetime stay at this magical location and we spoiled them with custom welcome bags filled with Scottish treats and a host of Scottish entertainment, including being welcomed to the castle by a traditional Scottish bagpiper and a highland games which they enjoyed the afternoon prior to the wedding.
On the wedding day, Jill wanted elegant, rustic décor which incorporated her favourite colours (blue and ivory) and we worked to create a design that drew on the woodland location as well as the grandeur of the setting. The outdoor ceremony was set in the stunning gardens, which we decorated with gorgeous flowers and the Bride walked down the aisle to the haunting beauty of the traditional Scottish harp. The evening reception in the grand ballroom on the estate was followed by a traditional Scottish ceilidh and a firework send off.
